Working Together
I offer individual psychotherapy for adults in English and French from my office on Plateau-Mont-Royal in Montréal.
My practice is primarily in person, although online sessions within Québec can also be offered when appropriate.
The information below explains the practical aspects of therapy and how the process of beginning works.
Sessions
Psychotherapy sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes. Longer sessions can sometimes be arranged when clinically appropriate and agreed upon in advance.
I generally meet with clients weekly or every two weeks, depending on what seems useful and practically feasible.
My professional fee is $200 per hour, prorated according to the length of the session.
How to Begin
Before beginning psychotherapy, I use a brief consultation and screening process to determine whether my practice and approach are appropriate for what you are looking for.
-
Contact me through this website with a brief message about what brings you to therapy. There is no need to provide a detailed history at this stage.
-
If I have a recurring opening that fits your availability, I will invite you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute video consultation. Before the call, you will complete a brief secure Pre-Consultation Questionnaire.
The consultation helps clarify what you are looking for, how I work, and whether we may be a good fit. It is not psychotherapy.
-
If we decide to proceed, you will complete a more detailed intake questionnaire and informed-consent form before the first session.
-
Our first psychotherapy session gives us more time to understand what brings you to therapy, clarify your goals, and begin developing a shared understanding of what you would like to work on.
-
If we continue working together, we establish a regular rhythm of sessions, usually weekly or every two weeks. The focus, pace, and frequency can be revisited as the work develops.
Fit and Scope of Practice
An important part of the initial consultation is determining whether the psychotherapy I offer, and the setting in which I work, are appropriate for your current needs.
My approach often involves attending closely to emotions, bodily responses, relational patterns, and present-moment experience. The pace and depth of the work can be adjusted considerably, and we decide together what is useful and manageable.
I work independently in private practice and do not provide crisis services, intensive psychiatric monitoring, or multidisciplinary care. Some situations are therefore better supported in settings that can offer those resources.
A diagnosis or difficult history does not, by itself, determine whether we can work together. What matters more is your current situation, the level of support you need, and whether I can provide appropriate care within the scope of my practice.
If another setting appears more appropriate, I will discuss that with you and, when possible, help you identify relevant alternatives.
