Julien Lacaille, PhD
Psychologist | OPQ #12855-16
I am a clinical psychologist, member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ), with over 15 years of experience working with adults facing anxiety, depression, dissociation, relational difficulties, and unresolved childhood trauma.
I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University, where my research explored the mechanisms of mindfulness-based interventions.
My clinical work is grounded in experiential, emotion-focused, and trauma-sensitive psychotherapy. I work from a non-pathologizing perspective, understanding symptoms as meaningful adaptations shaped by lived experience.
“No matter how great your difficulties, there is more right with you than wrong with you.”
I start with the assumption that everyone has resources inside them that they can access to heal. My role is to help you access and utilize those resources so you can live a more grounded, less burdened life.
I also teach meditation on Insight Timer, drawing from the Vipassana tradition and secular mindfulness.
A Safe Container
My office is located in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal and is designed as a quiet sanctuary within the city. It is a warm, confidential space where we can tune out external noise and turn attention inward.
Most sessions are held in person, allowing the work to unfold in a grounded, embodied way within a space that supports safety, presence, and depth.
Clinical Training
I maintain a rigorous commitment to professional development in depth-oriented modalities. My training includes:
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP)
Emotion-Focused Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EF-KAP)
MDMA-Assisted Therapy for PTSD (MAPS)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Mindfulness-Based Stress-Reduction (MBSR)
Outside the Office
Beyond my clinical work, my life is shaped by family, close relationships, creative and embodied practices, time in nature, and an ongoing exploration of inner experience.
